Atkinson Hyperlegible

Atkinson Hyperlegible is a neo-grotesque typeface created in partnership with the Braille Institute of America.

It has been developed with the goal to increase legibility for readers with low vision, and to improve comprehension.

Named for the founder of Braille Institute, Atkinson Hyperlegible is a traditional grotesque sans-serif at its core. It departs from tradition to incorporate umambiguous, distinctive elements—and at times, unexpected forms—always with the goal of increasing character recognition, and ultimately improving reading.

Braille Institute is a nonprofit organization that embraces the unique challenges of sight loss and low vision, and rejects perceived limitations.

It departs from traditional neo-grotesque sans-serifs to incorporate unambiguous and distinct forms in order to increase character recognition.

Atkinson Hyperlegible is available for free from the Braille Institute of America. It has been used in personal and commercial projects around the world.
